Worship/Student Ministry Pastor Job Description:
Worship Ministry:
Job purpose: The Worship Leader will work closely with the Senior Pastor in cultivating worship services and worship teams that help lead our congregation to see and savor the greatness of God through Jesus Christ, in the power of the Spirit. Modeling and leading heartfelt worship in an invitational style that draws people in, encourages participation, and points people to Jesus.
Duties and responsibilities
- Lead all worship services which includes managing the service order, music, media, live stream, sound and lighting.
- Communicate with the Senior Pastor any questions or concerns about upcoming worship gatherings and attend weekly staff meetings.
- Set annual goals for the worship ministry that are in line with CBC’s vision and provide to the Senior Pastor. (annually)
- Oversee the worship department budget and maintain/upgrade equipment as necessary. (annually)
- Service Coordination – Create service order and schedule all songs in planning center each week which includes scheduling of worship team and sound booth volunteers.
- ProPresenter Set up - Announcements & PowerPoint entered into ProPresenter for each service.
- Maintain license for music used, lyrics displayed and live streaming.
- Special Music and Special Speaker setup and support (music/sound/media). (as needed)
- Sound/Media/Lighting support for special events - Funerals, Weddings, Lamplighters setup, Ladies Events, Men’s Events, Missions Conference, VBS, Teen Special Events, Community Events and Concerts - Hours depend on monthly commitments.
- Music Preparation – Instrument/vocal practice, music preparation, preparing practice tracks for worship team and tracks for live worship.
- Direct a full Worship Team Rehearsal.
- Oversee the AV/Production team and volunteers. (weekly)
- Tech Support - Lighting system repair, sound system adjustments, computer updates, instrument repair/tuning. (weekly)
- Recruiting, auditioning, teaching, and training musicians in the church to serve the congregation as a team with musical skill and humility. (weekly)
- Oversee youth worship team which includes scheduling, music, training, and rehearsal.
Qualifications:
- A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a vital, growing personal relationship with Him.
- Commitment to moral purity.
- Commitment to the mission, vision, and worship philosophy of Calvary Baptist Church.
- Acceptance of Calvary Baptist Church’s Statement of Faith.
- Chemistry & Unity with the Senior Pastor
- Demonstrated excellence as a worship leader, i.e. had led, grown, and/or developed a music ministry.
Student Ministry:
- Preparing and teaching Sunday School lessons
- Organizing weekly Youth group meetings (games, message, music, announcements, etc...)
- Designing, overseeing, and examining curriculum for all programs, events, and classes.
- organizing and developing a team of youth leaders to assist in the discipleship of students.
- Interacting with students during Sunday services.
- Initiating and maintaining relationships with teens on a weekly basis outside of normal established church meeting times via text, phone, email, social media, face-to-face, etc...
- Developing and maintaining positive relationships with students and their parents.
- Providing updates to parents and students of upcoming events and other pertinent details regarding happenings in the student ministry program.
- Sharing program plans, events, and event pictures through social media.
- Displaying a Christ-like approach and lifestyle, and praying regularly for young people in the church and community.
- Getting involved in the community to make connections with and reach out to youth outside of the church.
- Incorporating youth into various church ministries for His use.
- Discipling students one-on-one who are interested in the knowledge of God and His Word.
- Organization of fundraisers for the purpose of raising money for camps/retreats
- Planning, promoting, organizing camps and missions trips. (Summer Camp, Winter Retreat).
- Attending teen extracurricular activities throughout the week (sports, clubs, plays, etc…).
- Organizing monthly teen events geared towards fun, fellowship, and outreach
- Collection of information, buying of gifts, and implementation of the annual Graduation Sunday program.
- Report and manage a monthly yearly youth budget.
- Provide biblical counseling of teens towards the goal of salvation and Christ-likeness.
Miscellaneous Pastoral Responsibilities:
- Organizing and participating in church outreach events and church inreach events (men’s retreat, VBS, Missions Conference, special guest events, concerts, etc…)
- Visitation when called upon
- Preaching and teaching relief for the senior pastor
- Lock up the church on designated nights.
- Attend meetings.
- Assist Pastor with Discipleship
- Meet with Pastor Regularly
